Toll point testing on the M4

Please ignore the beep at new toll gantries: Homebush Bay Drive eastbound on-ramp, Homebush Bay Drive westbound off-ramp and Powells Creek on-ramp. Charges don't apply during testing which will continue until the New M4 tunnel opens in 2019.

The Look Good Feel Better program has just thanked us for helping to provide workshops to over 480 people undergoing cancer treatment in the Liverpool area in the last four years.

Unexpected outcome from a mowing and maintenance service established for young adults with a disability

When Interlink Roads / M5 provided the funds for The Junction Works to establish a Mobile Mowing and Maintence Service earlier this year, it was with the expectation that young adults with a disability would have the opportunity to develop commercially oriented garden and maintenance skills and be able to undertake real work experience in preparation for employment. Some of the outcomes, however, have been positively surprising!

Martin* is a 20-year old man with an intellectual and psycho-social disability who lives in a supported group home where the Mobile Mowing and Maintenance Service provides a weekly service.

For sometime now Martin has been difficult to engage; withdrawing from community life, refusing to attend his Day Service and rarely venturing outside his bedroom.

Two months ago, when the Mowing and Maintenance Service arrived at the property for the first time, the team found its extensive yards overgrown and in urgent need of some care.

As the team set to work Martin poked his head out the door. The team invited him out to help them, which Martin did.

The next week they did the same.

By the third week when the team turned up Martin ran inside, put on a fluro vest and boots, and joined the team without prompting.

Now, the arrival of the Mowing and Maintenance team is a weekly highlight for Martin, who has taken an interest in turning the yard into a garden and is increasingly taking on more difficult gardening tasks.  Interlink Roads’ generosity has improved the quality of this young man’s life, in a quite unexpected way.
